Tutoring rates by country
Prices checked Oct 23, 2026
How much a tutor costs depends a lot on where you live. A high school math lesson costs about the same as a takeaway lunch in Madrid and about the same as a nice dinner in Dubai. This page gathers typical private tutoring prices in 10 countries, by school level and in local currency, so parents can judge a quote and tutors can check where they stand.

Prices are for one-to-one lessons with an independent tutor. Agencies and tutoring centers usually charge more for the same hour, because they pay for recruiting, rooms and admin. Group classes cost each family less.
In Saudi Arabia and Egypt, families usually pay per lesson (a حصة), not per hour. A lesson there often runs 60 to 90 minutes.
